Primary GENERAL with Maths
As a trainee primary teacher specialising in maths, you’ll discover how to use your ability in the subject to make a real difference to young pupil’s lives.
You will follow the training year of the programme that you have selected and will receive additional specialist training in delivering primary maths and a closer look at Maths Mastery.
As a primary teacher specialising in maths, you could be eligible for a tax-free bursary. You must have a grade B or better in maths A-Level and we will actively look for this during the application process.
Salaried trainees who are eligible to follow this route will attract a higher grant. This would be passed to your employing school.
Tuition Fee trainees - the amount you are eligible for will depend on your qualifications (see below).
Funding, Bursaries and Tuition Fees
For the academic year 2018/2019 we will be charging a tuition fee of £8250.
You may be eligible for a maintenance grant or special support but this will be determined by the Student Loan Company when you make an application for your tuition fee loan.
For the training year 2018-2019, the following government bursaries are available for those trainees with a B grade (or better) in Maths A-level:
- Those trainees with a Master's or PhD - £6,000
- Those trainees with a first class honours degree – £6,000
- Those trainees with a 2.1 honours degree – £6,000
- Those trainees with a 2.2 honours degree – £6,000
If you’re eligible for a bursary, the payments will be processed automatically by Surrey South Farnham SCITT.
Applicants with a degree from outside the UK should refer to the Government’s ‘equivalency table’ to see if their degree is likely to attract a bursary.
Additional maintenance grants and loans
