Outstanding Mentoring Conference 2017

19th October, 2017 (2 - 5.30pm)

As a Mentor in one of Surrey's school based teacher training providers, you are invited to attend our 'Train to Teach in Surrey Outstanding Mentoring Conference'.

The conference provides a unique opportunity for your own continuing professional development as a mentor. You will be able to focus on what it is to be an outstanding mentor and share best practice with experts in the field and your counterparts in schools across Surrey.

Keynote Speakers

Keynote speakers will include the CEO of SSF SCITT, Sir Andrew Carter. Andrew conducted an independent review of the quality and effectiveness of initial teacher training (ITT) courses in the UK. The 'Carter Review' set out how the ITT system is performing and highlighted examples of good practice as well as areas for improvement. It made 18 recommendations, some of which are aimed at the government and some for the teaching sector’s consideration. An important recommendation was to consider national standards for mentoring. SSF SCITT are very proud to feature as a case study within this report.

There will be targeted workshops for you to attend:

  • Mentoring career changers
  • Managing difficult conversations
  • Coaching trainees to improve their behaviour management strategies
  • Building resilience in trainees

If you are interested in attending this event, we will be opening booking in June, 2017. A link to our online booking system will appear below.
